Friday, January 8, 2021**UPDATE** ARREST MADE IN NOVEMBER 2020 HOMICIDE
On Monday, November 16, 2020, at approximately 3:40 p.m., Turlock Police Officers responded to the 1600 block of Lander Avenue after receiving multiple calls of a shooting that had occurred. The victim, Joel Lopez Guzman, a 39 year-old male from Turlock, had been shot multiple times and later succumbed to his injuries after being transported to a local area hospital.
Turlock Police Department Detectives gathered evidence, obtained search warrants and conducted multiple witness interviews in this investigation. The investigation led Detectives to information in which they were able to identify the suspect, Jeramie Hoover, 22 years-old, resident of Turlock.
Detectives were able to obtain an arrest warrant for Hoover, which were for the charges of homicide and carjacking. Detectives then received information that Hoover had fled to Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Hoover was contacted and arrested on a traffic stop on
January 7, 2021, at approximately 3:16 p.m., by the Okmulgee Police Department. He was booked in their local jail and will be awaiting extradition back to Stanislaus County.
