Tuesday, October 11, 2022Turlock City Manager Reagan Wilson Concludes Two Community Meetings on Homelessness - Reviewing New Policies
(Turlock, CA) - Reagan Wilson, City Manager of Turlock, concluded two community meetings held in September and October to present residents with updates and information relative to homelessness in Turlock.Residents were presented information from a panel consisting of City Attorney George Petrulakis, Chief of Police Jason Hedden, Stanislaus County Probation Division Director and CARE Team Manager Raul Dominguez, and Legacy Health Endowment Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey Lewis.
"As city manager, I felt it was important to provide Turlock residents an opportunity to hear from some of our key personnel who are actively addressing homelessness in our city", said Mr. Wilson. "Community members asked questions and offered feedback on their challenges as well as proposed solutions. We heard everyone’s concerns and are working hard on proposals to present to the council."
"We are increasing enforcement around parks and businesses," said Chief of Police Jason Hedden. "We are also in the process of developing new ordinances, and revising old ordinances, that will allow us to better address those activities negatively impacting the residents of Turlock. Further, I am hiring additional officers to ensure our staffing levels can support increased monitoring of businesses and parks."
The City of Turlock’s website has been updated to include a new section, dedicated to homelessness, where residents can access recordings from the community meetings, information about community resources including shelters, food services, healthcare and other organizations offering supportive services. The website will be updated as new information becomes available.
